How to make a family vacation fun for the whole family.

Recently the RevRef, the child, and I took a 2 week vacation back to Chicago. WHY? you may ask. Well it's really quite simply. It's not cause we like the traffic or the humidity. It is simply because we miss our Seabury Family and friends. We timed our trip so that we could be there for the graduation of this years seminarians, the class behind RevRef's class. Emotions were heavy, but so was the humidity.

We began our "family" vacation by driving to Chicago from Montana. Upon reaching Chicago we dropped off the child at her friends house for the first 3 days. She was then picked up by another family and spent the next 4 nights with them. I saw the child for church on Sunday and then again when she was dropped off the night before departure day. While she was off gallivanting around with her friends, we were off visiting with ours. Eating out at restaurants we had missed, shopping at outlet malls that I am sure missed me, and of course lets not forget the trip to the scrapbooking store. We were able to spend uninterrupted time with our friends without a moody pre-teen along to sour the mood and she was able to spend quality time with her friends without the dreaded parents around. It was great for everyone involved. Even with all the hustle and bustle and going here and there to meet up with everyone we actually were able to find some time to relax and take in movies and find time to just chill (figure of speech, cause believe you me we were never cold).

The drive back was long and warm and we now had 2 pre-teen girls instead of one-oh joy! Yes we decided to bring one of the child's friends home with us for 2 weeks. Lets hope everyone involved survives this. The girls were really great travelers especially considering we were in the car a minimum of 12hours a day. YUCK!

I think the only thing that were only two things that I would change if I was to do it again. Have more time to spend with some of our friends and also to be able to do the drive in 3 days instead of 2 so that we could have done some more sightseeing, oh well you gotta do what you gotta do. Oh and the traffic and the humidity, I'd definitely change that too.

A great big thank you to Liz who put up with us staying at her house, our weird hours, and for making sure I got to the outlet mall. Thanks also to my scraping friends and to my Seabury Family without you my years at Seabury would not have been the same, I look forward to many "family reunions" together over the years. You all will always be forever in my heart.

yeah sus--scraping rocks. I got home and my scraping buds here were scraping. I was beat but I went up and spent some time with them anyway. Had a great time talking about Archivers.
