Winter?

Well "life in MT" in the winter, or at least this winter, is not exactly what I thought it would be like. It's actually kinda funny, when we left Chicago and the "warm" cinderblock housing of seminary all our friends were issuing warnings about how cold it was going to be in the winter in MT. Funny how for the last 2 weeks it's been in the upper 40's to upper 50's with no wind chill and all the cold winter weather has been in the mid east to east. Just something to make you go hmmm.

I wouldnt mind getting dumped on with a couple feet of snow. Like maybe 3-4ft. I think all of Southwest MT would agree with me that we would appreciate the inconvience and problems that go along with the dumping in order to help quench our drought problems.

That and don't get me wrong I know I am romantacizing it, but wouldn't it be fun to just stay inside drinking hot cocoa and playing silly games as a family together. We so rarely are together as a family. It seems that the older our daughter gets the more her and I have similar likes in TV shows, movies, music, hobbies, etc and I find that she and I do a lot together. We can craft together while enjoying a movie or TV show but it may not be something that the Rev can stomach.

Rev and I do a lot of travel time in the car together, after all it is an hour to go grocery shopping, but I find that we have to make the effort to stop chatting with friends, turn off the puter, put away the craft projects, and actually spend time finding out what is going on with one another. Having a huge snow storm that would knock out the cable, as well as the internet, might be kinda nice just for a little while to remind us what it's like to spend time with one another again.

We had a huge ice storm in Spokane in '96 or '97 and I remember more of the beauty of that than I do the inconvience of it all. Don't get me wrong, I remember the bitter cold too.

Several years before that, we had a period in the winter that had temperatures lower than I have ever been in before. If I'm not mistaken they got down as low as -40 with the wind chill. Rev and I had one room in our house that we could manage to keep warm, thankful it was our bedroom, so we moved the TV in there and we would get home from work, fix dinner, and retreat to the bedroom, cuddle up under the covers and spend the evening together in close company talking about our day, eating our dinner, watching TV, playing cribbage and basically finding out who we really were. Storms sometimes can be a blessing. Both of those created wonderful memories for me.

I guess though with the Bishop scheduled to visit in 2 weeks I should wait to pray for a storm here until after his visit. It would really bum the Rev out if the big guy wasn't able to come. Still I wouldn't mind a good storm and being able to make a snow fort in the front yard with Cece during the day. We could then ambush the Rev when he came home from work. Any wonder why Todd avoids the two of us when we are together?

Yes, snow would be good. Snow after His Pointy-Hatted Holiness departs would be even better.
