Village living

Living in a small town has its advantages. It also has it disadvantages. Sometimes they are one and the same.

Last night the boys went to the basketball game and then texted us and asked if it was ok if they went to a friends house until curfew. We said sure "why not" have fun, be home by curfew.

Shortly after the game I got a call from a concerned parent. "Do you know your boys left with so and so and were going to a different house?" I replied that they told me that they went to a friends house. The concerned parent thought otherwise.

Rev called the boys on the cellphone. After getting through some language barriers we were able to verify their location. Verified how they got there. Unsure as to how they are going to get home but we were assured that they will be home by curfew. No problem.

When dealing with kids with language barriers it never hurts to double check to make sure that we understood everything correctly and vise versa. Glad to know that everything was as we thought. We could now go to bed and sleep easy.

I have always agreed that it takes a village to raise a child but it is also good to know that you can trust your kiddos too.
