Out of the mouths of babes

Rev came back yesterday from Laurel where he attended the de-consecration service. The Laurel congregation has relocated to the Crossings Retirement Home Chapel. This new facility is much more user friendly, wheelchair accessible. They will be selling their current building and land and re-building on their own eventually. Until then they will be worshiping at Crossings.

We were discussing the how to's of the service and how everything went. He asked if we knew how you de-consecrate a church. For once in my life, I had no smart a** comment and simply replied "No."

The Kid however, took up my slack. She started out with "do they sprinkle it with anti-holy water?" then she went to "do you just tell God that he can't have it to play with anymore?" What makes it even funnier is the fact that she is says it with such a straight face. She follows it up with "You have to remember that I don't know any of that stuff".

I think sometimes as far as she is concerned it is just dad's job.

For the Rev Jane and her parishioners, I'm glad the service went well and that St. Alban's now has a new place to worship. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new site.

And here I was thinking all we had to do was invite in an AAC bishop wanabe to tell us we were no longer following the teachings of Christ and - poof - it would disappear.
