Our First Easter in Montana

Alleleluia The Lord is risen!!!!!

Holy week here in our little corner of Montana has been trying. To be married to a first time priest, who is in charge of two small congregations during Holy Week is extremely trying. So for those out there who look to me for the "first-time experience" let me tell you, your spouse will be cranky. But then again who wouldn't be having to do 6 services (6 sermons) in 4 days. The thought of it makes me want to hurl. However, we had a great experience here.

The two churches that RevRef is in charge of have not experienced Holy Week in about 20years. No Maundy Thursday. No Good Friday. No Holy Saturday. And definitely no Easter Vigil. Just Easter Sunday. We heard many good remarks about how much they enjoyed the whole week and the whole experience, which made dealing with the cranky man all worth it.

We did have a few glitches at home though. Glitch #1: This year our daughter who is almost 12, in tears came to me with the charge that I am the Easter Bunny. I informed her that I do her Easter Basket but that I do not hide the eggs. When she asked who does, I simply replied that I did not. She was relieved by this. I would like to say on her behalf she is a really bright little girl who just likes to hold on to the fiction. What's wrong with that? I told her that no where does it say that the Easter Bunny does Easter baskets, he just does eggs. All seems ok now.

Glitch #2: I made her wear her "Easter best". To which she replied "I hate to dress up, and what does it matter any way no one is going to see my dress, I'm gonna have on a vestment!!" Good mom that I am I tried to explain to her that this was a special day that required special clothes. I then pointed out that Rob (age 3) and his younger sister were always dressed up for church and asked her why she thought that was. (If you have your mouth full swallow before reading on cause RevRef and I almost choked on our chocolate milk). Her reply was "Cause Rob doesn't have a mind of his own!!"

Glitch #3: Then, possibly the worst glitch of all was when I went to get into my "Easter best" and found that the shoulder strap on my bra was broken. Not just any bra but my best minimizer bra. For those of you who don't have to worry about wearing a minimizer bra this might not seem like a big deal but my dress was button up the front and definitely needed this particular bra. I tried over breakfast to fix it and thought that I had been successful until I attempted to put it on and found that once again the strap would not stay put. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Then I got brilliant. Ran downstairs, grabbed the duct tape and fixed my bra and it is holding up just fine. That's now 102 uses for duct tape.

This Easter Bunny now needs to get online and order a new bra.

Allelulia, Allelulia Christ is Risen!! The Lord is Risen indeed, Allelulia, Allelulia!!

Oh, #3 is priceless! I am entirely sympathetic over the "right bra" issue, but (being the sewing geek that I am) I would have been running for needle and thread, and grousing the entire time. I never would have thought of the duct tape.

You should win some sort of prize for this one, sis. (^_^)

As I read #3 I thought, "Oh my gosh, she's going to tell us that she used duct tape as a bra." I was relieved that you didn't. All I could think was Ouch.

Your daughter sounds like a strong minded doll. You sound like an intelligent funny woman.
