flourescent orange

Ok I've been running 5miles a day now since basically the end of August. My running partner and I thought, when we started that we had a pretty good route to start out with, however like most of the roads it was a soft road (aka dirt) and with no street lights, not to mention that it was up hill on the way back. SO....we picked a different route. We picked a nice paved road that had minimal street lighting, more traffic, and was up hill(and pretty steep) to begin with and down hill all the way home. After running this for a while we have deemed this to be unsatisfactory, so we once again picked another route. This time we did it with a little more concentration and took more of the streets into consideration. Our new route incorporates both up hill and down hill, and paved and non-paved roads. However the other day while running this route we noticed lots of deer, and a man walking towards us with a flourescent orange hat on, please remember that it is hunting season. My running partner, being the hunter that she is, decided that this route might not be the safest of plans either as we dont want to be mistaken for a deer. Afterall how would Revref explain that to the Bishop. "Well you see Bis it's like this she was shot. No it wasnt suicide. She was shot by a hunter. No, she wasnt hunting. She was out for a leisurely run with a friend." Oh heck forget the bishop, how would he explain it to my folks. Anyway I think my running partner and I have decided that we should be ok as long as we dont run with our hats that have the antlers on them until after hunting season. That is until I heard a gun shot go off while we were running. I think Ill just leave the hat with the antlers at home even after hunting season.

At least it wasn't because you were stuck in the crossfire between the cops and the gangs -- something I always worried about in Chicago.
