Familiar Sounds in a Strange Land

It is true that if you were to close your eyes many of the sounds that you hear would sound just like home. The waves lapping on the shore sound the same here just as they do at the Oregon Coast. The dogs barking, the roosters crowing, and even the screech owl that lives outside our window all sound the same as they do back home. Ok maybe not the screech owl. Kids laughing and playing soccer(or futball) sound the same here or at home. The accent of the people is different but the joy of the voices are still the same.

Today after taking my nap, I woke up to one of the most cherished sounds: the ice cream man. Yes, even in Belize they have an ice cream man who plays the same song that they do in the US. We have only seen him once and I am unsure of the ice cream but it was a white SUV-type vehicle.

In the US when a child comes running from behind, the ice cream man usually stops. Here in Belize, Cece chased after the ice cream man so that we could take a picture. Apparently if you dont come out while he is in front of your house you don't get ice cream, hence we just have a picture of the back of the car.

People up the block from us got ice cream from him and had my battery for my camera not been charging I would have had the picture that I wanted. Oh well you all will just have to trust me on this. I have witnessess and I wasn't dreaming.
