Bugs

Bugs.
Bugs have been very popular this trip. Mainly because Dr. Wes our vascular surgeon’s 14-year-old son, Zach is on this trip as well and one of his homework assignments is an assignment regarding bugs. We have all been busy keeping our eyes open for different bugs as well as taking pictures of the ones when Wes and Zach are not around. Cece and I have even gone as far as capturing a bug in a plastic container to show him. The spider that we found, however we just took a picture of and then promptly squashed.

Not everyone is as appreciative of a good bug as everyone else. Camellia who is in the room that we stayed in last year, had the hotel staff kill a spider that was near the ceiling. I fear that it may have been my little pal “fido” who I counted on last year to eat all of our mosquitos.

Bugs apparently like Cece. Out of the 45 of us that are hear this year, so far it is only my daughter that has gotten bit by some strange bug. The bite looks all red with a couple of clear blisters in the center. It has caused quite a bit of swelling. Good thing we are traveling with 6 practitioners. The advice is to have her soak her leg in salt water 4-5 times a day. This is not exactly easy since 1. we have nothing to soak her leg in and 2. we have no salt. The other recommendation was to cut off the air supply to the bite with duct tape. Yeah like I carry that around with me all the time. For right now we are just using hydrocortisone and neosporin and praying that we don’t have to have Dr. Mike amputate. Actually Im going to purchase some salt tomorrow at the "Price Is Right" grocery store and we are going to soak guaze pads in salt water and have her put that on the bite several times tomorrow and see if that helps.

1. Um . . . how close are you to the ocean???

2. Please bring my daughter home in one piece.

That is all.

1. Ok my hotel is on the ocean but the beach is untreated so there are fleas and I don't need to treat her for flea bites on top of whatever has already bitten her.
2. As far as binging her home in one piece, don't worry it just may be a shorter piece than before. But Dr. Mike is a great surgeon he has already done several surgeries while he has been here so he is already warmed up.

Well, Kyle might not mind the "shorter piece than before," because then he'd be taller than she is; but I think I'd rather we let time take care of that, thanks.

Hope she's feeling better soon. I hate bug bites.
